Aakri's 2024: A Year of Transformative Social Impact

In 2024, Aakri significantly advanced its mission of sustainable waste management and social responsibility through a series of impactful initiatives.

The year 2024 has been nothing short of transformative for Aakri. From cleaning beaches to rebuilding hope in disaster-hit communities, Aakri has woven a narrative of environmental stewardship and social impact. Here’s how we turned the ordinary into extraordinary this year.

A Clean Slate at Fort Kochi
January 1 dawned with a purpose. Armed with gloves, sacks, and unyielding resolve, Aakri volunteers swept Fort Kochi beach clean of remnants from the New Year carnival. By dusk, the pristine shores stood as a testament to what teamwork and dedication can achieve.

Zero Hunger, Zero Waste
Surplus food found a purpose in our Zero Hunger program. Student volunteers became everyday heroes, gathering leftover meals from restaurants and delivering them to the homeless. The result? Full bellies, happy smiles, and less food waste clogging our cities.

Eco Zen: Students Lead the Way
At GEMS Modern Academy, Kochi, young changemakers took charge of a recycling drive aptly named Eco Zen. With 122.7 kilograms of recyclables collected, these students proved that a cleaner world starts with small, consistent actions.

Digital Detox: E-Waste Drives
This year, we partnered with the ViswaSanthi Foundation and EY to tackle the mounting problem of e-waste. Drives at Rajagiri School of Engineering and EY campuses in Kochi and Trivandrum saw heaps of discarded gadgets responsibly disposed of, sparing the environment from toxic harm.

Hope in the Aftermath of Tragedy
July brought heartbreak as landslides ravaged Wayanad. Amid the chaos, Aakri stepped in, processing 2.64 tonnes of biomedical waste from relief camps. Our work wasn’t just about waste—it was about restoring dignity and hygiene to those who lost everything.

Building Tomorrow’s Changemakers
Whether it was first graders at GEMS or engineering students at CUSAT, Aakri engaged young minds with workshops and awareness sessions. By planting seeds of environmental responsibility early, we’re nurturing a generation ready to lead the green revolution.

2024: A Year of Impact

This year, Aakri turned waste into wonders and challenges into triumphs. From the shores of Fort Kochi to the hills of Wayanad, every cleanup, every recycled kilogram, and every shared meal left behind a trail of hope and resilience. Together, we’ve shown that waste is not the end of the story—it’s the beginning of change.

Let’s turn resolutions into action, one piece of waste at a time. Together, we can make waves for a cleaner, brighter future.

Join us. Let’s make 2025 even greener.
